SCR Commercial Realty traces its roots in the Edmonton business
community to 1960, when the firm's co-founder and broker of record
Tom Watt entered the real estate business in his home town. Mr.
Watt has been in the forefront of the region's economic
development, having participated in well over 1,000 acres of new
developments, including bringing the first Costco store to Alberta
in the 1970s.
Based in Sherwood Park, SCR was originally founded in 2004 as
Strathcona Commercial Realty Inc. In 2009, a new partnership was
formed by Tom Watt with local business executive and entrepreneur
Vince Lachance to provide a new vision for the firm and its
continued change and growth in the industry. In June 2010 the
company rebranded as SCR Commercial Realty and launched its Next
Generation Real Estate initiative.
The strength of the SCR today is based in its deep connection to
the Edmonton metro area, its institutional knowledge of the real
estate market and its recent infusion of diversity in business
experience by SCR professionals and agents, including an executive
from the lumber industry and local restaurant business owner, a
regional banker and a development manager from the gaming industry
in association with Alberta's First Nation people.
SCR specializes in the lease and sale of a wide variety of
commercial property and land, with particular emphasis on creating
real estate investment opportunities for its clients. The firm has
expertise in land entitlements with extensive experience in zoning
issues.
